The BaBar project is an international physics collaboration that studies the production and decay of B mesons using the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory at Stanford University.
As part of its contribution to the BaBar experiment, the University of Victoria is responsible for generating simulated data sets and maintaining an environment where users can access data from the BaBar detector for physics analyses. The UVIC group is responsible for managing the generation of simulated data using resources at the other Canadian BaBar sites at UBC and McGill.
The UVIC site holds all the tau lepton data and a variety of other data sets. The data is stored in a dCache system on the UVIC Research Computing Facility that uses a combined disk and tape system to deliver the data to the processors.
